Pause and learn what other people think and feel, as well as what their goals and challenges are. What kind of pressure are they under? How well are they coping? Is there anything you can do to support them, or at least to show sensitivity?
If you are so busy dealing with problems that you have no mind-space or energy left to keep your high performers engaged and fulfilled, you are missing out on your biggest opportunity.
Qualities in excess tend to create problems, concerns about other people’s opinions can lead you in the wrong direction, and adapting your behavior to influence people’s perception of you makes you look dishonest.
